Plantar fasciitis will usually subside on its own if you take the time to properly rest your foot. However, the irritation can be a struggle to deal with while your foot heals. Luckily, there are a few tips that you can use to help ease the irritation caused by plantar fasciitis.

Soak Your Foot in a Chamomile Foot Soak Daily

The main reason why you may feel pain when dealing with plantar fasciitis is that your foot is inflamed. In order to soothe this inflammation, you will need the help of an anti-inflammatory herb. Chamomile is one of the most commonly used anti-inflammatories. It is commonly found in home and garden stores as a fresh herb. You can also pick it up from your local grocery store in its dried form. The foot soak can be started by placing a handful of dried or fresh chamomile in a large bucket. Fill the bucket with hot water and allow the water to cool for several minutes. Place your irritated foot in the mixture and let it rest there until the water is no longer warm. The anti-inflammatories in chamomile will help to ease any pain and irritation that may be causing your discomfort. This routine should be performed nightly in order to keep irritation to a minimum.

Perform Foot Stretches Throughout the Day

Performing foot stretches can not only help to protect you from future injury but also help to alleviate your plantar fasciitis. A simple foot stretch that you can perform daily is a heel raise. Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Then lift your heels off of the ground. Shift your weight from your heels to your toes. If your balance is not the best, then you can perform this stretch in front of a wall, holding onto the wall for additional support. Repeat these heel raises at least a few times in the morning and before going to bed. You can also perform this stretch anytime throughout the day.

An irritated or inflamed foot can make performing your daily routine seem like a nightmare. Therefore, use these tips to help reduce any discomfort and irritation created by your plantar fasciitis.
